(Seguin) – Local candidates will be looking for your votes in the March 1 Primary Elections. Guadalupe County voters will find only four contested countywide races. Each of those races, however, appear on the Republican ballot. There are no contested races on the Democratic ballot.
Those races seeking a Republican nomination include Guadalupe County District Clerk, County Clerk, Guadalupe County Commissioner Precinct 4 and Justice of the Peace Precinct 1.
In the race for Guadalupe County District Clerk, Incumbent Linda Balk faces challenger Shelly Saldivar-Sposari for the nomination.
Appearing on the ballot for Guadalupe County Clerk are Incumbent Teresa Kiel and Stacy A. Melton.
Candidates campaigning for the Guadalupe County Commissioner Precinct 4 seat are Incumbent Judy Cope and challengers Stephen Germann and Joel Hicks.
Those seeking the position of Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 are Incumbent Darrell Hunter and candidates Kelly M. Cross and Sam “Saundra” Meyer.
Across the Lone Star State, Republicans and Democrats will choose their candidates that they’d like to see on the November ballot. They include candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, land commissioner, agriculture commissioner, comptroller, plus district based congressional and legislative offices, the State Board of Education and statewide judicial seats.
Early voting begins today and runs through Friday, Feb. 25.
