(Seguin) – After weeks of collecting toys and wrapping gifts, Seguin Police Department’s Blue Santa is ready to distribute those gifts to local boys and girls.
Today and Friday marks distribution day for the Blue Santa Program. Pick up opportunities will be from noon to 7 p.m. each day.

Sarah Wallace, community engagement officer for the Seguin PD, says picking up gifts will be made easy.

“So, we just try to keep it as simple as possible for them this year. They don’t need to bring any paper or any documents with them. All we need for them to remember is the name on the application and when in doubt, if they are not sure, the address of the application so if they can have the name on the application. That would be most helpful and then from there, we are going to use the address if they are not sure if it was mom or dad that signed up or grandparents, then we’ll go by the address. But we’ll try to keep it as simple as possible for them,” said Wallace.

Wallace says a handful of volunteers will be on hand to assist families who have already applied for the program.

“We’ll be passing out candy canes and (will) be playing Christmas music and trying to make it a real fun time. All of our volunteers love this part of Blue Santa being able to see the families come and pick them up, so we try to make it as fun as possible,” said Wallace.

Gifts can be picked up at Blue Santa’s workshop located in the old Beall’s Department store. The store is located in Crossroads Mall at 1500 E. Court St.

Due to the number of applicants, volunteers cannot deliver gifts, so families are asked to plan now for pick-up. Those having questions are asked to call Officer Wallace at 830-865-6409.
