Marion comes up short to Cole in district road match
(San Antonio) – Marion had a chance to move into the driver’s seat for a playoff berth in District 26-3A Tuesday night, but the Bulldogs fell 3-0 to Cole in San Antonio.

The match was more competitive than the sweep might indicate. After dropping the first set 25-15, Marion extended the second and third to extra points before falling 26-24 and 28-26.

The loss drops the Bulldogs 6-6 in district play, 14-20 overall.

Hayley Mabee led Marion’s front row with eight kills and sparked the defensive effort with 11 digs.

Kacee McClendon set for 20 assists. Jaslyne Williams and Kyla Beck each registered four service aces. Maggie Rudisaile chipped in at the net with three blocks.

The Bulldogs hit the road for a district match against Stockdale on Friday at 5 p.m.
