(Seguin) — The Guadalupe County Fair might be over, but it’s only the beginning for its new royal court.

The winners of this year’s Guadalupe County Fair Queen’s contest were announced Saturday in the Seguin Coliseum. Several young ladies, from area schools, competed for the titles, and a chance to spend the next year serving as ambassadors for Guadalupe County.

Winning the title of this year’s 71st Guadalupe County Fair Queen was Mariah Castilleja, of Seguin High School.

Castilleja shared her excited following the contest with the Seguin Daily News.

“I’m feeling very shocked, very excited. I’m shaking a lot because I’m excited. It means a lot because I never thought I would get in the place where I am right now. I’m excited for the upcoming events that are going to happen this upcoming year, and I just can’t wait for everything to happen,” said Castilleja.

Castilleja is a high school freshman and is involved in the Kingsbury 4H and FFA programs.

Also joining her on this year’s royal court are Princess Hannah McMullan, of James Madison High School in San Antonio. She is the daughter of Janell and Jason McMullan.

This year’s Duchess is Kailey Kuntschik of Navarro High School. She is the daughter of Alan and Nicole Kuntschik.

Castilleja, the daughter of Maria and Rafael Castilleja, assumes the 2021-2022 duties of former Guadalupe County Queen Shannon Anderson.

Castilleja and her court will go on to represent Guadalupe County in future events including area parades and county contests.
