Seguin Main Street announces Spooktacular winners in downtown contest


(Seguin) — The Downtown Scarecrow and Skeleton Competition has become a loved tradition for visitors to downtown Seguin. With a record number of entries this year, the competition encourages businesses to decorate their storefront windows with one of the season’s most popular features. The scarecrows and skeletons range from traditional to spooky.

“The Scarecrow Competition is a time for our downtown businesses and others to let their creativity shine and showcase their businesses,” said
Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street and CVB Director, “The decorations are a great addition to downtown as we enter the busy fall event schedule.”

The Downtown Scarecrow Competition is hosted by the Seguin Main Street Program and the Guadalupe County Fair Association.

Winners of the Competition:
1st Place Business Category – Pecan City Disc Golf
2nd Place Business Category – Son’s Travel
3rd Place Business Category – Hair Haus

1st Place School/Church Category – Special Kids with Special Needs
2nd Place School/Church Category and Most Creative – Seguin Christian Academy
3rd Place School Church Category – St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
1st Place Nonprofit Category – Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin
2nd Place Nonprofit Category – Seguin Art League
3rd Place Nonprofit Category – Seguin Animal Services
Best Window Display – Abundant Arrows Home School
Most Nutty Award – Seguin Chamber of Commerce
Hero Award – Guadalupe County Republican Women
Best Decorated Yard – Gaytan Family
Best Classic Fall Display – Gaytan Law Firm
Most Eclectic Award – Guadalupe County Groundwater Conservation District

Judges for the competition were Jennifer Sourdellia, with the city of Seguin; Gay Lynn Olsovsky with the Seguin Gazette and Cindy Aguirre-Herrera with Seguin Radio KWED and the Seguin Daily News.
