(Seguin) — A Seguin ISD alum is returning to the school district, this time as the director of community outreach. The Seguin ISD has hired Kelly Donegan Follis, to the new position. In addition, Follis will also serve as the executive director of the Seguin Education Foundation.
Follis joins the SISD family after years of handling constituent casework and public outreach in the district office of Texas Senator Donna Campbell. Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez says she brings to the position a wealth of experience in the local non-profit sector and a life-long love for Seguin.
“With Ms. Follis’ extensive experience in public service, we are confident that she can strengthen our community support network to make positive impacts on our schools and students. The Seguin area is blessed to have a variety of businesses and industries. Ultimately, we want to work closely with these entities and organizations to make sure that our students are supported and prepared for the workforce,” said Gutierrez.
Follis says she’s thrilled to join the Seguin ISD in a position that combines her favorite aspects of work that she has had the privilege of doing in the past.
“I look forward to getting out and about in my hometown to tell the story of the Seguin ISD and to foster the realization throughout our community that our district is one of which we can be proud. My 12 years of education in the Seguin ISD prepared me to graduate magna cum laude from Baylor University and obtain my CPA license immediately thereafter. My children graduated from Seguin ISD in 2019 and 2021, respectively, and were awarded academic scholarships to cover their college tuition at TLU. I remain active in the Seguin High School Drama Mamas & Papas and Seguin Choir Boosters clubs. The Seguin High School students I’ve been honored to know are not only talented, but they are polite and kind,” said Follis.
“In my new position, I want to foster and expand the relationship that the district has withbusinesses, individuals, and alumni to grow the Seguin Education Foundation’s impact for the betterment of our students and faculty.”
The Seguin Education Foundation is currently seeking directors for its board and welcomes the community’s input and support. To be a part of the organization or to show your support, call 830-379-0325 or email seguinef@gmail.com.
