(Seguin) – The future for Seguin High School athletic fields will come to the table for discussion during tonight’s meeting of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. Trustees tonight will begin to take a closer look at the current conditions and future needs of both its baseball and softball facilities.
District officials say facilities “are outdated and beyond repair through standard maintenance.” Plus, they believe new facilities will complement new Seguin High School’s Matador Stadium. On top of the district’s list, however, are the safety concerns that both facilities bring. Some of those include but are not limited to uneven cracks, holes in the field and grass level being higher than the dirt level. Grass and turf options, potential expenditures and funding plus the overall construction method will be among the issues to be included in the update to the school board.
Other items on tonight’s agenda include a review of the 2020-2021 Optional Flexible School Day Program and approval of the 2021-2022 application for Seguin High School and Mercer Blumberg Learning Center at Saegert and the approval of a resolution extending paid sick leave for COVID-19 related illnesses.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Seguin ISD Board Room located inside of Oak Park Mall.
