(Geronimo) – Navarro ISD has named Kelly Miller the new head boys basketball coach at Navarro High School.
Miller has seven years of experience as a teacher and coach. Before taking the Navarro job, he served as a varsity basketball assistant at 3A powerhouse Brock High School.
With Miller on Brock head coach Zach Boxell’s staff, the Eagles went 92-20 and made two trips to the UIL state tournament over the course of three seasons.
Miller also served as a varsity football assistant and track coach at Brock. Before that, he was an assitant coach at College Station High School and College Station Middle School.
Miller received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Tarleton State University in 2012.
“My family and I have been blessed to be at two great school districts prior to Navarro,” Miller said. “Not only were the athletics programs successful, but academics were the main priority. In basketball, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of two regional championships and one state title game appearance.”
“In 2014, my wife, Kim, and I got married right down the road in Kyle, Texas. We have two beautiful children. Hayes, who will turn 4 on July 12th, will be attending the Pre-K program at Navarro. Norah is our one-year-old little girl.”
“My family and I chose to come to Navarro to add to the overall Navarro ISD culture, and establish a winning culture in Boys’ Basketball. Our current focus is to lay out a solid foundation all players can walk away from our basketball program and use in the world as young adults and beyond.”
Miller replaces John Odell, who led the Panthers to one playoff appearance in two seasons. The last time Navarro finished with a winning record in boys basketball was the 2016-17 season.
