(Seguin) — A familiar face has been promoted to take the lead at Navarro Intermediate School. District officials on Monday announced the appointment of RJ Strauch as the new school principal. Strauch has served as the assistance principal at the campus since 2019.
Strauch will be replacing Wendy McMullen, who will now serve as the chief academic officer for the Navarro ISD.
Navarro ISD Superintendent Wendi Russell says she is excited to see Strauch is his new role.
“RJ has proven himself as a respected leader at Navarro Intermediate School,” said Russell. “He knows the staff and understands the culture. He is primed to lead Navarro Intermediate School to new heights, while continuing the practices that led to the school’s current climate of success.”
Strauch says he too is looking forward to the opportunity.
“I am so excited to serve the Navarro community and help all students grow,” said Strauch.
Strauch, who earned degrees at both Texas Lutheran University and
Stephen F. Austin, has been in education for 20 years. During those years, he has served as a head basketball coach, science teacher, and assistant principal.
He and his wife Amy have four children all of who attend Navarro ISD.
They include Cade, 15; Colt, 13; Coehn, 11 and Carlynn, 9.
