(Seguin) — The day has finally arrived for the return of Seguin Radio KWED’s Freedom Fiesta. The Fourth of July celebration is set for Friday night from 6 to 10 p.m. in Central Park.
This year, the event has evolved into more of a Food Truck Festival type celebration with live music. KWED General Manager Darren Dunn says although things might be a bit different, coming together as a community will still be the same.
“I want people to know that we are excited about what we have to offer this year but we also want to acknowledge that it’s going to be a little bit different. It’s going to be a much more laid back affair and a little bit more like the Summer Concert Series because we just want to make sure that we stay safe. The pandemic is still a very real thing and we know that we are getting back to normal but we are not totally back there. So, we don’t have the vendors that we’ve had in the past. You will not see all of the vendors lined up along the streets. We won’t have the non-profit groups cooking up food and handing that out to you. We will leave that up to the professionals with the food trucks just to keep everyone safe. We think that’s the best way to handle it this year but I want you to know that we are already making plans to bring back the Kiddie Parade and all of the other great stuff, all of our vendors and everything else that goes
along with Freedom Fiesta each and every year so that will be back in 2022 but in 2021, we want you to come out, bring your family and have a good time,” said Dunn.
Dunn says the event will not only feature a number of popular food trucks but it will also come with a side of live music featuring the great sounds of Clint Taft & the Buck Wild Band.
“Freedom Fiesta is going to be a great time. Clint is going to provide the music and they always do such a good job and then we are going to have all of this delicious food from which to choose from. I mean
everything, burgers from Grouchy Mama’s. Chick-Fil-A –everyone in Seguin always seems to want Chick-Fil-A but we are going to provide that for you and there’s just a long long list of food trucks that will be there as part of our Food Truck Festival. Folks, I hope you come hungry because it’s going to be a great line-up,” said Dunn.
Other anticipated food trucks to be parked around Central Park include Mister Softee, Cajun on da Geaux, Davila’s BBQ, TNT Dogz, K&J Food Truck, Auntie Anne’s, Susie Q Food, Wiggle Waggle plus more.
This year’s Freedom Fiesta Beer Garden will also be hosted by the Knights of Columbus.
Residents are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. The event is free. Again, that’s the annual KWED Freedom Fiesta slated for today from 6 to 10 p.m. in downtown Seguin.
