Concert series to share stage with Moonlight & Roses this Sunday

Concert series to share stage with Moonlight & Roses this Sunday

(Seguin) – Seguin is inviting you to a two for one event in downtown Seguin this Sunday night. Sharing the spotlight with the Seguin Main Street’s Central Park Summer Concert Series in Central Park will be this year’s Moonlight & Roses event.

Kyle Kramm, director of Seguin Main Street and the CVB, explains this Sunday’s event.

“For those of ya’ll that might not know, we normally host our Moonlight & Roses in April of every year. We haven’t been able to host that event the past two years because of COVID and at Moonlight & Roses we normally have our Downtown Awards presentation. We have complimentary desserts and wine, and we sell wine glasses and different items and just have a relaxing evening listening to Jazz music in the Memorial Rose Garden. This year, we are combining the two events so the concert series this Sunday will feature the Dirty River Jazz Band but the biggest change will be that it’s going to be in Central Park instead of the Memorial Rose Garden,” said Kramm.

Seguin Main Street last weekend kicked off its concert series. The series for the next several Sundays will host a different band beginning at 7 p.m.

He says with combining both events this Sunday, residents will get to enjoy a host of other specially planned activities.

“We will still have wine glasses for sale, and we are providing the Texas Main Street cake. We’ve got enough cake for about 200 people and so definitely we will have some goodies out there. We’ll have our food trucks as normal as well,” said Kramm.

In addition, to desserts, hors d’oeuvres and of course the Downtown Awards presentation, the Main Street Program will be selling picnic baskets to enjoy while at the concert.

The baskets for two are $75 each and will include a charcuterie board, two wineglass tumblers, chocolate covered strawberries and a rose. The baskets can be pre-ordered via Eventbrite at moonlightandroses2021.eventbrite.com.

As for the live music, Kramm says the audience will again not be disappointed.

“They actually got started while they were at TLU here in Seguin and their first public performance was at a Seguin Main Street event about probably eight or nine years ago. They graduated the university, but they continue to come back to Seguin pretty much every year for this event, for Moonlight & Roses to be a jazz band for the event,” said Kramm. “Managed by Drummer, Vocalist, and Arranger Chris Alvarado, the Dirty

River Jazz Band’s sound closely emulates the Jim Cullum Jazz Band who served as their mentor. With most of their band members from the area, they are excited to return to their birthplace and put on a show to remember!”

This Sunday’s free event gets underway at 7 p.m. in Central Park. The rest of the concert series features the County Line Band on June 20, Conjunto Cats on June 27 and the San Antonio Symphonic Band on July 4.

The concert series hosted by the Seguin Main Street Program is made possible thanks to the support of several business and individual sponsors.
