(Geronimo) – The head baseball coaches in District 27-4A have unanimously voted Navarro’s senior first baseman and pitcher Mark Wozniak as the District MVP for the 2021 season.

Senior shortstop Sam Muniga was unanimously voted the district’s Defensive MVP, while sophomore pitcher Bryce Nall unanimously claimed Newcomer of the Year honors.

The Panthers had seven players unanimously voted to the All-District First Team – pitcher Jaxen Monkerud, catcher Kaden Monkerud, second baseman Aden Supak, third baseman Will Boswell, outfielders Reece Rojas and Jacob Frederick, and designated hitter Tristan Brashears.

Rojas was also selected to play in the Freedom SA Missions All-Star Game in San Antonio on June 21.

Relief pitcher Hunter Monroe and outfielder Marco Moncada were named to the All-District Second Team.

Rojas, Monroe, Wozniak, Muniga, and Lucas Turner made the Academic All-State team. Those five, along with Frederick, Supak, Reed Fishbeck, Jaxen Monkerud, Cole Zimmer, Moncada, Boswell, Nall, Michael Caleb Thomas, Blaine Pircher, Colton Chambers, Case Monroe, and student manager Maddie Hildebrand earned spots on the Academic All-District list.

The Panthers voted Muniga the Team MVP, Rojas and Hunter Monroe as Most Improved, and Wozniak the recipient of the Fighting Heart Award.

Navarro went 31-6 with a district championship and four-round playoff run to the 4A Region IV semifinals in Kris Cavazos’ third season as head coach.
