Historic home, business damaged by fire

Here's a bird's eye view of the destruction that was left behind by today's fire that ripped through the Mosheim also knows as the Olivia Mansion on North Austin Street. The Victorian home is said to be the first in Seguin that had both electricity and indoor plumbing. Drone action captured by KWED's Nick Spence.

(Seguin) — A building that has been a home, a bed-and-breakfast, and a fixture in downtown Seguin more than 120 years was seriously damaged by fire Friday.

The Mosheim Mansion, also known as the Olivia Masion, located in the 400 block of North Austin Street, near the Texas Theatre caught fire early Friday afternoon.

The mansion, over the years, has served as a bed and breakfast and as a private residence.

Historical records suggest that the mansion is one of the first homes in Seguin to have electricity and indoor plumbing.

It’s not clear what caused the fire, but fire officials are investigating the possibility of a lightning strike.
