Matadors qualify for regional meet in four events, claim area title in boys 4x200

(Georgetown) – The boys 4×200 relay team of Christian Soefje, R-Teston Tucy, Marques Washington, and Tristan Moreno won the District 25-26 area championship to headling a group of Seguin athletes who qualified for the 5A Region IV meet in four events on Wednesday at Georgetown-East View.

The 4×200 relay team posted a time of 1:30.07.

Moreno is also headed to the regional meet in the 100 meters and 200 meters after finishing second in both races at the area competition. He ran a time of 10.91 seconds in the 100 and 21.83 in the 200.

Seguin’s Nayla Harris punched her ticket to regionals with a third-place time of 12.36 seconds in the girls 100 meters.

Moreno also competed in the long jump at the area meet, finishing fifth with a mark of 21-10. Branden Knox finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 49-11.5.
