(Abilene) – Navarro High School senior Sergio Hernandez claimed the Division II state championship in the 308-lb class at the THSPA Boys State Powerlifting meet in Abilene this past weekend.

Hernandez lifted a total of 1,795 lbs. He squatted 765, bench pressed 470, and dead-lifted 560.

Navarro’s Carter Holtkamp finished eighth in the 275-lb class with a total of 1,600 lbs (665 squat, 390 bench, 545 dead lift), while Cole Booker took 10th in the 242 class with a total of 1,480 lbs. (605 squat, 330 bench, 545 dead lift).

Seguin senior John Leandro finished seventh in the 181-lb class of Division I. Leandro lifted a total of 1,415 lbs (505 squat, 325 bench, 585 dead lift).
