(Pleasanton) – The Navarro girls basketball team survived a cold shooting first half to notch its 17th straight win Friday night, 42-30 over Pleasanton in a District 27-4A road game.
The teams were knotted up 11-all at halftime, but the Panthers heated up to outscore the Eagles 31-19 in the second half.
Sophomore guard Tatum Harborth led all scorers with 13 points. Point guard Laylin Sturm also reached double figures with 11.
Ryanne Hepp, Haleigh Ortiz, and Berklee Andrews added four points apiece. Julia Bumguardner, Karlee Koenig, and Taylor Helms each put in two.
The win keeps Navarro unbeaten in district play with a 6-0 mark in 27-4A games and moves the overall record to 24-1.
The Panthers, ranked No. 6 in last week’s TGCA 4A state poll, look to complete a two-game head-to-head sweep of Gonzales at the Navarro Events Center on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Gonzales is 10-9 overall, 1-5 in district play, and trying to hold off Pleasanton for the fourth and final playoff spot. Navarro beat the Apaches in a competitive game, 53-45, at Gonzales High School on Jan. 15.
Tuesday’s Navarro – Gonzales game will air live on KWED 1580-AM and Seguintoday.com. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:15.
