Impressive awards haul for Navarro volleyball in District 27-4A

(Geronimo) – Junior outside hitter Elizabeth Williams earned Offensive MVP honors to lead a group of nine Navarro volleyball players who landed spots on the 27-4A All-District team for the 2020 season.

Williams led the Panthers with 246 kills, and also contributed 26 aces and a team-high 39 blocks.

Navarro’s First Team All-District selections include senior setter Sara Benner and senior libero Nelly Brumley.

Benner distributed a team-high 399 assists to go with 167 digs, 18 blocks, and 31 service aces.

Brumley paced the Panthers defensively with 497 digs. She also sent a team-high 36 aces over the net.

Senior outside hitter/ defensive specialist Ashley Gosch and senior middle blocker Haley Hoffmann earned spots on the All-District Second Team.

Gosch recorded 115 kills, 304 digs, 21 aces, and 10 blocks.

Hoffmann finished the season with 112 kills, 17 blocks, and 70 digs.

Navarro players who made the Honorable Mention list include juniors Berklee Andrews, Madison McCaig, Kyndall Tate, and Terryn Wallace.

Andrews totaled 17 aces and 197 digs.

McCaig finished second on the team in kills with 124 and in blocks with 29.

Tate had 61 kills and 21 blocks.

Wallace set for 199 assists to go with 150 digs and 30 aces.

The Panthers who made the Academic All-District Team are Andrews, Benner, Brumley, Gosch, Hoffmann, Halle Lanham-Scheib, Jaelyn Martinez, Hannah Reitz, Wallace, and Williams.

Navarro went 16-7 overall, 5-3 in District 27-4A (2nd place), and advanced to the second round of the UIL playoffs in Bernice Voigt’s first season as the program’s head coach.
