(Seguin) — Get ready to hear from candidates from the comfort of your home. The Texas Lutheran University Center for Servant Leadership & The Seguin Community Forum will again be teaming up tonight to co-host their annual Candidate Forum. This year, however, that in-person event will be a virtual format safely bringing together the candidates in the City of Seguin and Mayoral Elections.
Morgan Klaser, director of TLU’s Center for Servant Leadership, says even with the coronavirus pandemic, election season is still happening. She says both TLU and the Community Forum find it important to host a space for local candidates to share their platform and answer questions that will help to inform and educate voters.
“This year, an in-person event is not possible, so we are hosting the candidate forum virtually. We will also be recording the event and posting it to Youtube afterwards for folks that cannot join live. During the webinar, panelists will appear on-screen with their video and audio, while participants will be able to enter questions into the Q&A box or via the Facebook Live comment section. The panelists will consist of the two mayor candidates, as well as the candidates for city council districts 1, 2, 4, and 6,” said Klaser.
After a brief welcome, each candidate will have time to introduce themselves and then will take questions from the moderator, Javier Cuevas. If time permits, Klaser says they hope to have time for audience questions to be answered.
The event will be held today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. via Zoom webinar and simultaneously livestreamed on the TLU Center for Servant Leadership Facebook page. The community can access the event either directly through the webinar link (https://zoom.us/j/99962629861), which will allow up to 500 people to join, or via the Facebook Livestream.
