TLU named among the top colleges in which to work for TLU, a 2020 Great Colleges to Work For® by ModernThink

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

(Seguin) – TLU is happy to announce another accolade on the heels of its U.S. News recognition. For the ninth consecutive year, Texas Lutheran University (TLU) is again one of the nation’s great colleges to work for according to a survey by ModernThink. TLU officials say the Great Colleges to Work For® survey is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. Now in its 13th year, it recognizes colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.

Of the 221 institutions that participated, 79 were recognized as a 2020 “Great College to Work For” and only 42 were selected for the Honor Roll, including TLU. TLU officials say this is also the seventh year in a row TLU has received an Honor Roll designation. Results of this survey are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with TLU included among the small universities with 2,999 students or fewer.

The survey is noted for recognizing the outstanding workplace and innovative educational experiences of the institutions selected in the program. For 2020, TLU won honors in five categories including Collaborative Governance, Confidence in Senior Leadership, Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship, Teaching Environment (Faculty Only), and Tenure Clarity and Process (Faculty Only/4-year Only).

“The institutions participating in the 2020 Great Colleges to Work For® program deserve special kudos for their commitment to being good stewards of institutional culture and workplace quality,” said Richard K. Boyer, senior consultant at ModernThink. “In the face of unprecedented uncertainty, their commitment to faculty/staff engagement never wavered. In particular, institutions recognized this year prove that it is possible to be a great workplace even in the face of disruption, uncertainty, and limited resources.”

“This kind of external recognition underscores the many strengths of the TLU community,” said TLU President Dr. Debbie Cottrell.  “We know that our ability to serve our students well is directly tied to the work and commitment of our faculty and staff members, and the environment in which their work is carried out. I’m proud of this recognition while also seeing it as a reminder of the importance of ensuring that our community-focused environment continues to be strong and healthy.”

The ModernThink team of organizational development experts say they are dedicated to helping colleges follow through and capitalize on feedback from employees and benchmark data from peers to drive meaningful change at their institutions.
