(Seguin) — Get ready to dial 9 Yum-Yum! That’s because an emergency vehicle will be rolling into town this Friday to manage all your 9-1-1 emergency DONUT needs. Whether it’s the traditional or fun flavored donuts or even strawberry cream cheese cinnamon rolls, the Hurts Donut Emergency Delivery Vehicle has been invited by Century 21 United D&D to set up shop this Friday at noon in its parking lot located next door to Taco Bell.
Helping to invite the popular donut truck to Seguin is Realtor Kristine Martinez. Martinez says after hearing that the food truck gives back to the communities that it serves, she knew that she had to bring the truck to Seguin with a portion of its proceeds benefiting the Seguin ISD.
“As realtors, we are always trying to figure out ways to give back to our community. With Century 21, you know Linda and everyone loves to participate in hosting things and events. We normally do like a Back to School drive. We didn’t do that this year since things are a little bit different but I was actually on Facebook and ran across a post from Hurts Donuts and they were actually, I believe in Luling and I read through it and of course I saw the donuts so that caught my eye right away but then when I saw that they actually give back to a local charity or to the school district, I was like okay, we are going to have to figure out a way to get them here to Seguin because we are always wanting to do something that is going to give back to our community and what better way to do it than to have a donation to the school,” said Martinez.
Martinez says in the name of safety, the ambulance, of course, will operate as a drive-thru — giving everyone the opportunity to come out and try one of its tasty pastries.
“The ambulance is going to be parked in our parking lot right in front of Century 21 by Taco Bell so we are going to try our best to direct traffic flow and of course, everyone is going to be wearing masks so we do want everybody to still follow COVID guidelines as far as wearing their masks. We are going to have some hand sanitizer out there but it sounds like everyone is pretty much going to be staying in their vehicles and we are just going to be taking the orders,” said Martinez.
Martinez says a DJ has also been included in today’s festivities.
Hurts Donut, based out of Katy, is known for its Hurt Dozens plus maple bacon bars and huge cinnamon rolls. The ambulance will begin taking orders at noon Friday. Both cash and cards will be accepted. Again, a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Seguin ISD. Century 21 United D&D is located at 1498 E. Court St.
