(Seguin) — Residents of Seguin and Guadalupe County will have two more opportunities to receive free food during upcoming distribution events in August and September.
Seguin Public Information Officer Jennifer Soudelilia says the city of Seguin and Guadalupe Regional Medical Center (GRMC) are hosting the New Braunfels Food Bank’s next county-wide mass food distributions on Thursday, August 20 and Thursday, September 3 at the Seguin Events Complex parking lot. The distributions are free for Guadalupe County families needing food, but pre-registration is required.
“We are planning to provide food for up to 1,000 families in the community,” said Sourdellia.
“Community members are urged to pre-register for the distribution to ensure that lines quickly move the day of the event, which is forecast to be very hot. The less time individuals have to wait in their cars, the better,” she said.
Families will receive a 2-week supply of food, including a variety of fruits and vegetables, dry goods, dairy and protein,” she said.
Free food will be distributed from 9:30 to 11:30 am on both dates at the Seguin Coliseum parking lot, located at 950 S. Austin Street in Seguin. Anyone in the community who needs food is encouraged to register for the distribution.
Registration is required to participate. Vouchers will not be handed out for this distribution.
To sign up for the food distribution scheduled on August 20, please register online at: https://nbfoodbank.org/cvresponse. Registration for the September 3 distribution will open at a later date.
Residents can also call 830-327-6000 or 830-401-1360 to register over the phone. Phone lines are open NOW from 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday – Friday.
The deadline to register for the distribution on August 20 is Wednesday, August 19 at noon.
Registrants will need to provide a form of identification on the day of the Food Distribution event at check-in.
Approximately 100 volunteers are needed to help distribute food at both distributions. All volunteers must register at https://nbfoodbank.org/cvresponse or by calling 830-401-1360.
