KWED Freedom Fiesta plans announced

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

Freedom Fiesta, sponsored by KWED, is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 in Central Park. Due to the governor’s COVID-19 restrictions, Freedom Fiesta is being modified, and it will be less of a festival, and more like a concert in the park. Clint Taft and the Buck Wild Band will be providing the music for the event, which will mark the first time that the community will have a chance to publicly come together since the start of the shut downs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Freedom Fiesta is a free event. People will be asked to stretch out across the park, and practice social distancing. This means individuals will have to stay six-feet away from people who are not part of your household. There will be no game or food booths this year, and the streets this year will remain open during Freedom Fiesta. A handful of food trucks are being invited to help provide food for those who want to dine, while they enjoy the music and the night in the park.  Sponsorships are now being sold to help cover the costs of the event. If you’d like to help sponsor Freedom Fiesta, call 830-379-2234 or email Darren Dunn at darren@kwed1580.com.  The city of Seguin’s annual fireworks show and parade will also go on as previously planned. The fireworks will be held at 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 3 in Max Starcke Park followed by the parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4 in downtown Seguin.
