Applications required: CCSCT teams up with Seguin Area Community Foundation for today’s food distribution

(Seguin) – The Community Council of South Central Texas is still reaching out to those who have lost their job or who may have had their hours cut due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s because the CCSCT in partnership with the Seguin Area Community Foundation is still accepting applications for this afternoon’s Food Distribution Event.

Daniela Flores, the marketing, and communications manager for the CCSCT, says those needing assistance must apply for assistance. She says to be eligible; individuals must live in Seguin, meet income requirements, and must have had a loss of income due to COVID-19 or other related issue.

“That could be a variety of things as you know. It could be they lost their job because it was closed during the quarantine or they have reduced hours and they don’t have as much income coming in or they had to stay at home from work because now they had the kiddos at home, homeschooling. To qualify for this particular assistance, they need to show that they’ve had a COVID-19 issue that affected their income,” said Flores.

Those wishing to apply for this afternoon’s food drive have until 1 p.m. today. Flores says there are several ways in which to still apply in time for the event.

“We have the applications available online on our website which is www.ccsct.org and we also have  physical applications available at our Seguin location on Court Street and they can do either way to apply and they can email it to eleal@ccsct.org or physically take it and drop it off at the physical location as we are still practicing social distancing and our offices are closed to the general public but there is an area where they can drop off the applications,” said Flores.

While food is not guaranteed, Flores says individuals are still encouraged to stop by today’s food distribution event. She says they are also encouraged to bring along all the required documentation.

“We will also have the option to fill out the application on site. However, they will need to bring their proving documents that they are affected with a COVID issue and that can be like a pay stub that shows reduced hours or showing that they lost their job if they applied for unemployment – things like that. So, they can also apply on site,” said Flores.

Flores says on behalf of the CCSCT and its board of directors, she’d like to thank the Seguin Area Community Foundation for collaborating with them on this very important project.

“They obviously see the need of the people in our community that had been effected with all these closures and all these cut backs with COVID-19 and as our organization, the Community Council of South Central Texas reaches out to some of the most impoverished residents of our communities and tries to bridge them out of poverty, we are glad to partner up with the Seguin Area Community Foundation to help us reach our goal to help people and help change their lives. So once again, thank you to the Community Foundation for collaborating with us and we hope to have a really successful day and that we can continue to partner up to benefit our community,” said Flores.

The food distribution event will be held today (Wednesday) from 1 to 3 p.m. at Seguin’s Park West located in the 600 block of N. Vaughan Avenue.

Again, applications are available online at ccsct.org. They may also stop by the CCSCT office located at 1201 W. Court Street.
