Seguin ISD names new school principals

(Seguin) — Despite its school closures during this COVID-19 pandemic, the Seguin ISD is still putting together the pieces for next school year. The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees Tuesday night approved the principal positions for both Rodriguez Elementary School and A.J. Briesemeister Middle School.

First, the school board approved the official appointment of Yolanda Grijalva as the school principal at Rodriguez Elementary School. Sean Hoffmann, the chief communications officer for the Seguin ISD, says Grijalva was promoted after already having served as the interim principal.

“She’s been serving as the assistant principal at Rodriguez for a number of months and essentially as interim principal at that school and again, she’s done a great job in keeping many of the traditions alive at Rodriguez in providing support for our students,” said Hoffmann.

Hoffmann says the Seguin ISD has also named Dr. James Diaz as the school principal for Brisemeister Middle School.

“Dr. James Diaz has been in the administration at Seguin High School for a number of years as well. He got his doctorship recently and again, he has been a month or so over at Briesemeister Middle School providing campus support at that campus for staff and students and we feel he is a great fit for that role as well,” said Hoffmann.

Dr. Diaz has served the Seguin ISD for many years and was an assistant principal at the high school before being appointed as co-principal at Briesemeister earlier this year.
