(Seguin) — The Seguin City Council also has a special-called meeting slated for today to look at its response to the novel coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 illness.
The council is scheduled to consider approval of an emergency ordinance, that establishes city-wide rules in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ordinance calls for the immediate closure of all the following establishments and businesses:
• Bars, wineries, breweries, nightclubs, taverns, lounges
• Restaurant dining rooms (take-out and delivery will remain permitted)
• Health/fitness clubs, gyms, yoga studios
• Game rooms, indoor/outdoor commercial amusement businesses
• Bowling alleys, bingo parlors and movie theaters
• Private clubs
• Nail Salons, Hair Salons, Barber Shops, Beauty Salons and Hair Removal Services
• Spas and Massage Parlors
• Tattoo and Piercing shops
• Other social gatherings, including churches, whether indoor or outdoor, where 10 or more persons congregate and where the business is not providing an essential service
Many of the provisions have already been addressed by an executive order issued by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Seguin City Hall. Citizens can attend the meeting remotely by joining a Zoom Meeting video conference. You can find a link to that on our website, seguintoday.com.
