COVID-19 arrives in Guadalupe County; First official case of the disease is reported Friday afternoon

(Seguin) — Those in the medical community have suspect that we would soon have a confirmed case of the coronavirus in Guadalupe County. It turns out that they were right, and the first case was reported (today) Friday.

Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher says a local patient is now being treated for the COVID-19 illness.

“Guadalupe County has been monitoring the COVID-19 developments in our surrounding area. As other counties have done around us, we have taken many precautions to protect our citizens. We have been informed of our first case in Guadalupe County by the Texas Department of State Health Services. This case has been determined to be the result of exposure through travel, as opposed to community spread. As the news of this case is dispersed, please remember the precautions in place and continue to use social distancing as our best defense against the spread of COVID-19,” said Kutscher.

Kutscher says the county is coordinating with other agencies to make sure they have the best available information in regards to the coronavirus outbreak across Texas and now here in Guadalupe County.

“As we navigate through this first case in Guadalupe County, rest assured that we will continue to provide critical services to our residents. Our website will continue to be our main source of information. Please visit the links located on our COVID-1 9 page to learn the best practices on how to protect yourself, your family, and your community,” said Kutscher.
