New online City Hub feature to help city residents keep an eye on utility bill

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today

(Seguin) —  You know longer have to wonder if you are using too much water or electricity.

That’s because the city of Seguin is keeping usage of utilities at the fingertips of its customers.

Jennifer Sourdellia, the public information officer for the city of Seguin, says utility customers who currently utilize the City of Seguin’s online billing portal will now notice some new ways they can view their usage and receive notifications.

She says the City Hub Customer Portal is a mobile-friendly, online utility portal that helps customers better manage their utility billing.

She says using the online portal, customers can pay utility bills, manage multiple accounts, schedule payments, view account information and transaction history, monitor

water/electric consumption, and gain a better insight on how and when their utilities are being used.

“So now, if you are utility customer and you’ve got electric or you’ve got water service with us or you have got both,  you can monitor usage online throughout the month and then you can also set thresholds so if you want to set up for budgeting purposes — if you want set up a certain threshold during the month, you can receive notification if those thresholds are exceeded because that might meant that you may a leak somewhere or maybe you forgot your water hose on if you are watering your grass and so it’s a good way to monitor your usage throughout the month also a good way to get alerted if you exceed the preset thresholds that you the customer would set up,” said Sourdellia.

Sourdellia says this new online feature allows customers to have a better handle on what’s going on in their home and eliminate folks from being surprised when that utility bill hits the mail.

“It’s really a cool feature where you can manage your electric and your water account, you can schedule your payment in addition to monitoring your consumption and also get a better understanding of how and when customers are using their utilities,” said Sourdellia.

The online portal information can be viewed in a chart with details, such as: hourly interval data from previous day, average daily usage from the past week, daily usage for current billing cycle, and monthly consumption/cost.

Again, customers will be encouraged to set up text and email notifications that alert them of usage that exceeds normal amounts or pre-set cost thresholds.

In addition to utility online bill pay, customers can also utilize City Hub to pay traffic fines and court costs to Municipal Court.

The service is free and available online through the City Hub Customer Portal. The portal is not only mobile friendly but also accessible on tablets and personal computers. To access the online portal, log in at and click the utilities button.
