(Seguin) — Get ready to shop till you drop at this year’s Yulefest Arts and Crafts Show. The show, hosted by the Seguin Art League, returns this holiday season on Sunday at the Seguin Coliseum.
Yulefest Chairman Karen Roberson, says the arts and crafts show is an unique opportunity for area artists and crafters to sell their work and to showcase their individual talents. She says it’s been a long standing tradition and continues to draw in anywhere from 1,200 to 1,400 people.
“Right now, we have 78 vendors indoors and we will have about 28 vendors outdoors. The show has grown tremendously over the last two or three years. It seems like a lot more people are making handmade items and selling their wares and we have just grown tremendously and the community has really supported the show and the vendors have done really well,” said Roberson.
Roberson says the items available all illustrate real talent. She says the Yulefest committee takes pride in what it showcases that first Sunday in December.
“We do jury the items that are sold so we do like to take a look at what our vendors are selling and make sure that they have the standards of what we like for them to have. Most of the vendors are from I would say within a 50 mile radius of Seguin but we do have some that come from about that distance. We have many many vendors that are repeat vendors but each year, we also have new items,” said Roberson.
Roberson some of those exclusive handmade items are what help to set the event apart from other crafts shows around the state.
“We have so much variety. I mean we have soaps. We have jewelry. We have candles. We have woodworking. We have knitted items, sewn items, handmade knives, dolls, teddy bears, floral arrangements, paper items, photography and then actual art, painted watercolors, oil paintings,” said Roberson. “It’s a huge huge variety of handmade items. It’s quite impressive really.”
Yulefest will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Seguin Coliseum. There is no cost to attend. Children’s art activities will be provided during the show.
