(Seguin) — Seguin is going nuts over the list of events for this year’s Pecan Fest and Heritage Days celebration. Pecan Fest 2019 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street and Convention Visitors Bureau director, says Pecan Fest is not only about pecans. He says it’s about celebrating everything that makes this community great.
“The Pecan Fest is Seguin’s annual celebration of our famous pecan as well as all of our history and heritage and it just so happens to fall the last weekend of October which is also Juan Seguin’s birthday weekend as well. So, we have a lot to celebrate,” said Kramm.
Friday’s schedule kicks off with the Seguin Art League Paint Out. Be prepared to see easels spread out all over historic downtown Seguin as artists paint landmarks and various other scenes in the city. The theme is “Anything Seguin.” The artwork will be then be judged and sold on Saturday in downtown Seguin.
Kramm says there will also be plenty of nightlife throughout downtown Seguin during Friday night’s Hats Off to Juan Seguin Pub Crawl.
Kramm says the first 150 registered participants to check in at Central Park from 7:30 to 10 p.m. will receive a complimentary gift. The best part, he says, is that the Pub Crawl is free and will continue until 11 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule kicks off bright and early with the annual Healthy Nut Run. The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. at Max Starcke Park. The 5K and Kids mile are being hosted by the Seguin Education Foundation, the Seguin ISD and the city of Seguin.

Kramm says the day on Saturday will wrap up with several events including Hanging with the Spirits at the 1916 Bar & Bistro.
“On Saturday evening, we’ve got a couple of different options as well for activities. They include the Johnny Cash Tribute concert out at the Palace Theater and then also on Saturday is the Outdoor Learning Center’s Pumpkins on Pikes where they will be having a variety of pecan treats as well out there and then also the final activity for Saturday night includes the Hanging with the Spirits out at the Aumont or 1916 Bar & Bistro and there you can take free tours and hear some of the ghost stories of the hotel and hear some of the history as well. Those tours start at dusk and go basically until the bar closes,” said Kramm.
The Pecan Fest schedule also features each day the Pumpkin Patch at First United Methodist Church from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Seguin Wine Tasting at the Blue Lotus Winery/Texas Mead Works from noon to 5 p.m., historic tours at the Sebastopol House from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. plus tours of Pape’s Pecans and its Nutcracker Museum from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
