TLU’s Lexi Morris named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week
(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran Women’s Volleyball libero Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Friday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2.
Morris made starts at libero in her first four collegiate matches, and the first-year player responded with 57 total digs as TLU went 3-1 at its own Bulldog Challenge – the best start to a season for the program since 2015.
Morris averaged 4.38 digs per set, and she had 16 in the three-set win over Sul Ross State. Morris also served 10 aces in the four matches.
Texas Lutheran’s Cameron Townes named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week
SEGUIN, Texas — Cameron Townes, a senior midfielder/defender from Cypress (Cypress Ranch), has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, Sept. 2.
Townes scored all three of TLU’s goals over the weekend as the Bulldogs went 1-1, with a road win over Concordia Texas and home loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor in double overtime.
Townes had both goals in the win over Concordia, and his goal against UMHB tied the match with just over two minutes to play in regulation. All three of his shots on goal turned into goals. He took five total shots and scored three times.
