Float Fest cancelled, ticket holders should expect refund

(Gonzales) The on again, off again Float Fest event appears to be officially “off” for 2019.

It doesn’t look like folks will be cooling off at Float Fest after all. After being denied a permit in Guadalupe County, the event was moved to Gonzales earlier this year. However, organizers say they are extremely saddened to announce that Float Fest 2019 was being cancelled.

According to an official statement from Float Fest, organizers stated “We have been working around the clock to prepare the new festival site in Gonzales but at this time, we don’t feel the grounds are ready to fully showcase everything Float Fest is about. With weather, Gonzales saw an extraordinary amount of rain in May and June.” They stated that although the site was cleared, the rain created delays for construction.

Organizers, however, did note that because they wanted to create a first class experience to their fans, they plan to finish out the site so that it would be ready to tackle the festival in 2020.

Now for those of you who already bought your tickets, don’t worry as all ticket holders will be 100 percent refunded the cost. All refunds should be noted on your credit or debit card statements within the next 10 to 14 business days.

After being held for the last several years in Guadalupe County along the San Marcos River near Martindale, commissioners say they had no choice but to pull the plug for this year’s event. They said the area just couldn’t handle the amount of traffic, noise and other problems that occurs when hosting the event and the thousands of people who come out.

Float Fest was scheduled for July 20 and 21.
