(Seguin) — No matter whether it’s Spotify, Apple Music or Amazon Music, Seguin native Chelsea Todd (Chelsea Rose Davenport) continues to edge her way into the music world with the release of her latest single “Wrong Way.”
Over the last couple of years, Todd has hit success not only as a solo artist, TYSM, but also under two more music moniker’s 17 Memphis and The Bliss with partner Felix Snow. Todd says ‘Wrong Way’ which just became available Friday is the latest sound to be released by 17 Memphis, a country pop duo.
“Simply put, we just make as much music as we can and I think we love exploring in different genres and obviously, Felix has a very strong pop background and it’s like when we are not doing the country, we are doing the pop and when we are not doing the pop, we are doing the country and it’s nice to kind of bob in between basically the two because it gives different creative energy but overall, on this journey, we’ve come to realize that 17 Memphis is kind of the most true of all of it to us and that’s where we kind of want to land with it all. But it doesn’t mean that there is an ending to anything. It just means that things grow over time and it takes time. That’s pretty much it,’ said Todd.
Todd says with the release of “Wrong Way,” fans should expect to hear even more from 17 Memphis.
‘Wrong Way’ was co-written with Corey Crowder, Will Weatherly and Ben Burgess and you’ll get all of the updates on all social media, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon — all the good stuff and then after that, we are planning on releasing two more singles and then we are going to drop an album. We are planning some Nashville shows and hopefully, a radio tour in Texas,” said Todd.
It was early 2017, when Todd, as TYSM (Thank You So Much), found in her role in the amazing music industry with her progressive pop song “Honeymoon Phase.” Within a month of its release, that song racked up nearly one million plays online.
Since that time, her endeavors under each music group have helped to further push her career forward. Todd says the 17 Memphis duo just wrapped up a tour. She says that tour is what might have prompted a turning point in their career — releasing “Wrong Way” and everything else that she and Snow are currently working on.
“We did a tour last spring with Logan Mize and Luke Pell and it was so much fun. It was both of our first time ever doing anything like that — being on the road like that. After we got off tour, we kind of took a little break and we were releasing music under The Bliss which was Felix Snow and TYSM fused together and we have so much music that we have made. We already have a full album for 17 Memphis just sitting in our iTunes and it was just like alright well let’s keep the train rolling here and let’s release some more music and keep going on this journey. I was looking at the Spotify numbers and while we were focusing on The Bliss, that project had been growing and growing and it’s just really cool to see that and see how many fans of the music have accumulated over the time that we weren’t even really focusing on it, said Todd.
According to Todd, Seguin, no doubt, remains the official home for her fan base — a base that is spear-headed by her mother, Brandi Rose Atchley, a local artist and theater enthusiast.
Todd says this latest single release, again, has inspired 17 Memphis to tackle the road once more — this time making their way to Texas for a small radio tour. “Wrong Way” is now also being aired as part of our daily music lineup here on Seguin Radio KWED.
Speaking of local music, we’ve also added music from local resident Brannon Dreibrodt & Texas Revolver. Dreibrodt’s song “It’ll Get Easier” was also added to the KWED Top 40 playlist last week.
