(Seguin) — Free games, prizes, a hot dog lunch and a chance to win a bike will all be part of the fun during Saturday’s annual Badges, Bikes and Tykes event at Max Starcke Park.
Rain or shine, local kids this Saturday are invited to join the Seguin Police Department and the Seguin Fire/EMS Department for a fun day of games and activities.
Seguin Fire Chief Dale Skinner says the fire department remains appreciative to the police department for inviting them to help host the event.
“It has been such a blessing for us to be a part of it and get out and interact with the kids in the community. Our firefighters every year put the bicycles together so it gives us the opportunity to come together and do something for our community and we have great partners in our police department and we are very thankful for allowing us to be a part of it,” said Skinner.
Skinner says the whole purpose of the event was to partner up emergency officials with the community’s children for a day of fun and hopefully, new friendships.
“The firefighters and police officers are actually playing basketball and doing tug-a-war, their pulling fire trucks so they are actually out there interacting with the firefighters and the police officers as a community but it’s a great way to get to know the people that serve the community,” said Skinner.
Approximately 100 bikes, skateboards and other great prizes will be raffled off to local kids. All kids will also get to enjoy a free hot dog lunch. Upon arriving, families are reminded to head immediately over to the sign-up table for raffle and lunch tickets.
This year’s Badges, Bikes and Tykes event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Max Starcke Park East.
