(Seguin) — The city of Seguin is honoring a person who was a fixture at the Max Starcke Park Golf Course for more than three decades. Seguin City Council members on Tuesday approved the installation of a plaque to honor Frank L. “Biff” Alexander for his many years of service as the golf pro at the municipal course. Alexander died earlier this year at the age of 61.
Seguin Mayor Don Keil says the city is making plans to completely renovate the Pro Shop at the golf course, and he says placing a plaque on it honoring Biff Alexander is an appropriate thing to do.
“What this is is it’s a design that I think was approved by the golf committee — something that is still a little bit up for interpretation but it’s basically a sign to be put on one side of the entrance to the club house after it’s been refurbished with Biff, his plaque on one side and another plaque for Lefty Stackhouse on the other and I think that’s only something that would be fitting and I think you would be able to roll the cost of that into the fund for the refurbishment of the club house,” said Keil.
Councilman Mark Herbold is an avid golfer, and made the motion to honor Alexander in this way. He says it’s a great way for the city to show its thanks for all the years that Alexander took care of the course and the golfers who played it each year. The council unanimously approved the request.
