Niagara Bottling announces expansion of Seguin facility

(Seguin) — Niagara Bottling, LLC has announced plans to expand operations at its manufacturing facility here in Seguin. The expansion will add a fourth production line to the plant. In an effort to recruit the new investment to Seguin, the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court unanimously approved an amendment to the existing tax abatement agreement with Niagara Bottling.
As a result, Niagara will not only commit to creating 30 new jobs but will invest $21 million in new equipment at the facility.

Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher says the commissioners court did not hesitate to show support to Niagara. He says the plant continues to roll out its promise to the community.

“We are very excited that Niagara Bottling has chosen to grow their footprint in the City of Seguin and in Guadalupe County. Since 2015, when we originally announced that Niagara had selected Seguin and Guadalupe County for their new bottling facility, they have helped create excellent employment opportunities for our residents and have helped grow our economic base. They are an outstanding corporate citizen and we are proud that they choose to do business in Guadalupe County.” Said Kyle Kutscher, Guadalupe County Judge.

In the Spring of 2016, Niagara Bottling began operations at their 557,000 square foot facility located on approximately 30 acres of land at the intersection of Rio Nogales Drive and Eighth Street.

Today, Niagara Bottling’s Seguin facility runs three production lines, employs over 115 workers and has contributed millions of dollars to the local and regional economy.

Josh Schneuker, executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, says this latest addition to its production line is yet another positive indicator of the company’s future here in Seguin.

“Economic development is a team sport, and this project would not be possible if it were not for the collaboration between Niagara Bottling, Guadalupe County, the Seguin Economic Development Corporation and the City of Seguin. Our work together over the past few months on this project helped secure this investment to Seguin and Guadalupe County. Niagara Bottling has contributed to the betterment of our economy and our community ever since they began operations in 2016. We are confident that their Seguin operation will continue to flourish for years to come,” said Schneuker.

Brian Hess, executive vice president of Niagara Bottling, says the company couldn’t be more excited about expanding its manufacturing operations in Seguin.

“We selected Guadalupe County in 2015 because of an attractive combination of factors including location, infrastructure and workforce. These same factors, coupled with the partnership and genuine support we’ve experienced from the community, have given us the confidence to continue growing there. We are excited to add an additional 30 team members in Seguin. We look forward to maintaining leadership in the areas of innovation, supply chain efficiencies, and overall environmental stewardship,” said Hess.

Schneuker says Niagara’s role in Seguin has been tremendous ever since the city announced that the project was coming.

“We’ve seen added value on the tax rolls with the building that they have here in Seguin and with the equipment that they have in the facility. We are talking about an over $85 million initial investment with the project and now looking at this new line coming in with a new investment of about $21 million and then I think the most important investment of all is just creating some wonderful jobs here in our community. They already employ over 100 folks at their facility and are getting ready to add even more with this new line. Getting Niagara to come to Seguin and continuing to make investments in the community has really been a win, win. They are just wonderful folks to work with. They really believe in the community. They really care about the community and some of the things that they’ve done just as a corporate citizen have really gone above and beyond. So, it’s really been just a homerun for everybody here,” said Schneuker.
