(Seguin) — What superhero will you be this weekend? Sign-up is still available for this Saturday’s annual 5K Superhero Dash at Max Starcke Park. The Guadalupe County Child Welfare Board and the Guadalupe County Children’s Advocacy Center are again teaming up to host the event.
Christy Williams, the executive director of the children’s advocacy center, says walkers and runners of all fitness levels are invited to show their support for two great non-profit organizations.
“It’s going to be a great event. We’ve got vendors. We’ve got the superhero theme so people will come out in their superhero attire and have a really good time,” said Williams.
Williams says what is most unique about this particular fundraiser — is the opportunity for everyone to come out and sport their favorite superhero.
“So, we have people come completely head to toe in costume and then we have other people that will come just wearing a cape or a mask or like myself, I have socks with capes on them. So just come in something that you are comfortable in, something that you can do the 5K in and actually complete it and not get too hot and you can actually move but come out dressed as fun as you can and you will see all the other superheroes out there with us,” said Williams.
Registration on race day is $30 a person. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday followed a welcome at 8 a.m.; warm up at 8:15 and the race at 8:30 a.m. Come rain or shine, organizers say superheroes should be ready to go. Register is also available online at www.athleteguild.com.
