(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matadors took all three sets in sweeping the Sam Houston Lady Hurricanes in the District 27-5A volleyball opener for both teams at Goldie Harris Gym on Tuesday night.
A trio of Seguin sophomores made huge contributions to the win. Bella Homan had nine kills to lead Seguin. Elli Anderson led the Lady Mats with seven service aces while also pacing Seguin with three blocks. Sophomore Danica Rushlow had 21 digs to lead the Lady Matadors in that category.
Junior Gisele Morales was instrumental in setting up her teammates with 24 assists on the night. Senior Karina Lerma had seven kills and 20 digs.
The Lady Mats will host the Seguin volleyball tournament starting on Thursday. Their first match is at 8 O’clock Thursday morning against San Antonio Marshall at Goldie Harris Gym.
