(Seguin) — A classic dramatic production comes to life this weekend at the Texas Theater. Director Pat Hoppe says they will be performing “All My Sons” for the next two weekends at the historic theater in downtown Seguin.
Hoppe says this is a serious play, but she thinks that audiences will really enjoy the show.
“All My Sons is written by Arthur Miller in 1947, he wrote this play and he based it on a story that he had heard, a true story and the play is set in 1948 shortly after the war is over so many of the things that happened during the war and affected young men and parents you will see in this play,” said Hoppe.
This show is expected to be different from past performances at The Texas. Hoppe says she’s wanted to do this production for a long time, but she never thought she had the right cast for it. But she believes she has the right actors now, and she’s excited about bringing this show to local audiences.
“It’s a tough script. The actors have been working on it for about six weeks and it’s coming together. I mean it opens tonight so it better come together. Of course, we have costumes from the 40s and it’s just been delightful. The cast is absolutely wonderful. They support each other. They love each other and that’s a great thing for a director to work with,” said Hoppe.
The show will run the next two weekends, with showtimes set for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets are $20 for reserved seating and $15 for general admission. Tickets are available at the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, Gift & Gourmet and Keepers, or online at thetexas.org.
