That’s according to Jack Jones the director of the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department.
He says families are being invited out to Max Starcke Park East — this Friday night — for a showing of the Disney-Pixar animated film Elio.
Jones says the city is excited about offering a movie this October — a movie which was originally scheduled earlier this year but due to rain was postponed. He says the timing of the movie just adds to all the Halloween fun happening in the community.
“Even though it rained out last March, things happened for a reason. We’re able to do, I think, a lot more stuff this year with it being Halloween and having it of course at Max Starcke Park, we love that venue. Looking forward to having everybody out this Friday,” said Jones.
In addition to the film, Jones says families will get to take part in some pre-movie fun.
“We’re excited about having some activities, some Halloween activities, given we’re so close to Halloween. So the movie is going to start at dusk, so around give or take 7 o’clock. Whenever it gets dark enough, we’ll show the movie. But, we’ll also have some activities at the same time that’s going to include color your own trick or treat bag, a rocket ship headband, and a mini trunk or treat. There’s like 18 businesses coming to do trunk or treat. So it’s really gonna be something for the whole family besides the movie,” said Jones.
Activities will begin at 7 p.m. in the Kids Kingdom area at Max Starcke Park East. The movie will begin at dusk, around 7 p.m., and will end around 8:30 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and dress in their favorite Halloween costumes.
The free event will also feature a costume raffle and a VIP-section raffle. Families will enter for a chance to watch the movie from the designated VIP area. A link to sign up for the raffle can be found on the Seguin Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
