(Seguin) — The Seguin Matadors rallied from a 2-1 deficit to walk off Pieper on Thursday night at the Matador Legends baseball tournament.
Jackson Kirchner doubled to score Sam Edwards and tie the game, and following a walk to Will Gray Mahaffey, Matthew Marek singled home Nathaniel Herrera with the game-winning run.
With the victory, the Matadors split their two games on the opening day of the tournament. The Mats will play San Antonio Brennan tonight, with first pitch set for 7:45 p.m. Seguin has two games tomorrow at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The tournament concludes Saturday at Matador Legends Ballpark.
(Marion) — The Marion Bulldogs went 2-0 at the Marion baseball tournament on Thursday.
The Bulldogs beat Lytle 7-1 in their first game, with Jack Wells hitting a grand slam in the win. In their second game, Marion came from behind to walk off Blanco 5-4. Down 4-2 in the final inning, Eli Parker tripled home a pair of runs to tie the game, then scored on Mateo Zuniga’s walk-off single.
(Marion) — The Navarro Panthers opened the Marion tournament on Thursday with a 6-0 shutout of New Braunfels Long Creek.
Tyler Riske launched a three-run home run in the victory. Riske nearly hit two on the day — he drove a ball just foul over the left field wall in an earlier at-bat.
The Panthers and Bulldogs continue play at the Marion tournament today, with the tourney wrapping up Saturday.
(Marion) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs won both of their games at the Marion softball tournament on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs scored 24 runs in their two victories, crushing Johnson City 13-4 in the opener and blanking Blanco 11-0 in their second game. Alizayah Bernal tossed a no-hitter in the win over Blanco. Play in the Marion softball tournament continues today and tomorrow.
(Dripping Springs) — The Seguin Lady Matadors fell in their final game Thursday to Fredericksburg at the Dripping Springs tournament. The Lady Mats have two games today and two games tomorrow at the Drip tourney.
