(Geronimo) — The Navarro Panthers and Marion Bulldogs continue play in the Navarro Panther Classic boys basketball tournament.
Navarro fell in their two games in pool play on Thursday. San Antonio Young Men’s Leadership Academy took down the Panthers, 44-30 early in the day. In their second game, Navarro fell 45-29 to Carrizo Springs.
Marion went 1-1 on day one of the Panther tournament. Tournament favorite Davenport dropped the Bulldogs, 61-49 early on Thursday. The Class 4A 18th-ranked Wolves jumped out to a 15-0 lead, but the Class 3A Bulldogs were able to stay close the rest of the way against one of the top teams in the state. Marion would win their second game with a 63-33 rout of Halletsville.
Marion will play Southwest Legacy this morning at 9:30 a.m. and then play Gonzales at 2 O’clock this afternoon. Navarro plays Lockhart at 12:30 p.m. and Luling at 3:30 p.m. The winners of the two pools will play tomorrow afternoon at 1 o’clock in the tournament championship at the Navarro High School Events Center gym.
(Goliad) — The Navarro Runnin’ Lady Panthers are playing in the Goliad tournament through tomorrow.
The Lady Panthers dropped Beeville, 41-37 in tournament play on Thursday in their first game and then fell to Cuero 28-19. Tegan Harborth scored 17 points over the two games for Navarro while Madi Gilliam had 13.
(Fredericksburg) — The Marion girls continue play through tomorrow the Frederickburg girls basketball tournament. On Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs earned a victory taking down San Antonio Providence Catholic 48-28.
(Seguin) — The Seguin Matadors, coming off a 67-53 road victory over Sam Houston on Tuesday to open District 27-5A play, host Fox Tech tonight in district play. The game tips off tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Goldie Harris Gym.
(San Antonio) — The Seguin Lady Matadors are at Fox Tech tonight. That game tips at 7:30 p.m. at San Antonio Fox Tech High School.
