(Marion) — The Marion Lady Bulldog volleyball team fell to a stout New Braunfels Christian Academy team on Tuesday night, dropping their final non-district match in straight sets 25-17, 25-19, 25-12.
The Lady Bulldogs were lead by Kamryn Garza who had eight kills. Kacee McLendon added 10 assists and Bristen Birdwell came up with 12 digs.
Marion head coach Melissa Mitchell Schuetz experimented with some of her lineups ahead of the district schedule. Sophomore hitter Emily Sampson was second on the team with four kills on the night after a move to the outside.
“I moved her around and moved her to the outside this time. I needed somebody to start swinging on the outside tonight,” Mitchell Schuetz said of moving Sampson. “But hopefully, we got this out of our system and we start with Nixon on Friday.”
The Lady Bulldogs will start their 2023 district season with a 26-3A match-up against Nixon-Smiley this Friday. The match starts at 5 O’clock Friday afternoon at Marion High School.
