SEGUIN, Texas — Texas Lutheran football (0-3, 0-2 ASC) fought hard but dropped their homecoming matchup against Sul Ross State (2-2, 2-0 ASC), 28-14, at Bulldog Stadium.

The Bulldogs scored on their opening drive via a rushing touchdown from Jacob Forton (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley). Sul Ross would respond with a touchdown of their own on their first possession in the first  quarter tying the game 7-all. That is where the score remained until the early moments of the second half when the Lobos found the end zone on an explosive play – a 42-yard passing touchdown – to break the 7-7 tie. The Texas Lutheran offense would immediately march down the field and punch it in the end zone as Seth Cosme (Angleton/Angleton) found Aaron Sotelo (Castroville/Medina Valley) for a 13-yard passing touchdown to the game 14-all. That would be the last time the Bulldogs would find the end zone on the night. Sul Ross State would score 14 unanswered in the fourth quarter to spoil the homecoming festivities for Texas Lutheran and hand the Bulldogs their third loss of the season.

Seth Cosme led the Bulldogs offensively with a 19-for-26 196-yard performance through the air, Running backs Jacob Forton and DaKory Willis (Flatonia/Flatonia) each rushed for 76 yards to lead Texas Lutheran with Forton finding the end zone for a team-high sixth time. Senior tight end Aaron Sotelo had a season-high 44 yards receiving on five receptions – finding the end zone for the first time this season.

Defensively, Texas Lutheran was led by Khalen Wilkerson (Killeen/Ellison) who finished the afternoon with seven tackles – five solo. Trent Ward (West Columbia/West Columbia) finished with six tackles.  James Gipson (Castroville/Medina Valley) finished with six tackles including a sack. Canon Kromis added five tackles – including a sack, a pass deflection and two QB hurries. As a team, Texas Lutheran had eight tackles for loss.

Cameron Welch (New Braunfels/Canyon) punted six times for 266 yards – pinning the Lobos inside the 20 three times with a long of 58 yards.

The Bulldogs will travel to Houston, Texas, next Saturday as they travel to face NAIA-opponent North American University. Kickoff is set for 6 PM. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
