(Seguin) - Second-ranked Texas Lutheran softball gave head coach Wade Wilson his 600th career win Tuesday in a doubleheader of Messiah College (Pa.) at Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field. TLU won 8-0 (in six innings) and 7-4.
The early game produced career win No. 600 for Wilson, counting victories in college and in high school. Wilson is now 218-56 overall at TLU and 601-127-6 overall in college and high school.
In game one, TLU right-hander Maitlin Raycroft hurled a two-hit shutout. The senior struck out six and walked just one. Raycroft improved to 8-0.
Kelly Jurden, Skylar Ouellette, and Kassie Maddox each drove in a pair of runs. Ouellette produced the walk-off win with a two-run RBI single in the sixth.
Jurden, Maddox, and McKay Bloxham each registered a pair of hits. Jurden and Cassie Roche each scored a pair of runs.
TLU stole six bases in the early game and five in the second.
In the 7-4 victory, Kelsie Stone worked six innings, allowing just one earned run. She improved to 2-0. She struck out one, walked two and scattered four hits.
Maddox went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, and Ouellette belted a pair of doubles and drove in two.
Kyla Lockley had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run. She also stole a pair of bases.
TLU returns to action Thursday with a home doubleheader against the University of Texas at Dallas. First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 5:30 p.m.
