(Sealy) - Navarro baseball dropped a tightly contested game to Sealy for the second time in five days Tuesday afternoon as the Tigers scored the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to hand the Panthers a 5-4 road loss.
Sealy, who eliminated Navarro 2-1 in a best-of-three 4A regional quarterfinal playoff series last spring, edged the Panthers 5-3 in the La Grange tournament last Friday.
Navarro (8-6-1) has two more cracks at Sealy on Thursday, as the teams square off in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on the Panthers' home field in Geronimo.
Dakota Leopold singled in Mason McCalip to put Navarro in front 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning Tuesday, capping the Panthers' rally from an early 3-1 deficit. Sealy loaded the bases with three consecutive two-out walks in the bottom of the sixth, and Hunter Kelley put the Tigers up for good with a two-run single.
Leopold went 2-4 and drove in three runs, while Zach Moore finished 3-4 with a double and a run scored. Rawson Young finished 2-3. Austin Jonas recorded a base hit and an RBI. Joe Burch and Riley Lipton each went 1-4, with Burch scoring once.
