(San Antonio) – The Texas Lutheran Men's and Women's Cross Country teams posted strong fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively, among non-NCAA Division I competition Saturday at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational.
At Live Oak Park in San Antonio, the Bulldog men posted a score of 128 and finished ahead of SCAC rival Trinity (who sat out several of their top runners). The TLU Women scored 124 points.
Senior Rudolph Calderon led the Bulldog pack with a 20th-place finish among non-NCAA DI runners in a personal-best 8K time of 27 minutes, 57 seconds.
Donald Manuszewski and Francisco Olvera were next for the Bulldogs with respective 27th and 33rd-place finishes and respective times of 28:27 and 28:58.
Caleb Calderon and Blake Westbrook rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with 38th and 39th-place finishes.
For the women, Felicia Ortiz and Breauna Gabriel led the way for the Bulldogs with respective finishes of 19th and 21st-place and personal best 6K times of 25:38 seconds and 25:42.
Kylee Garcia, Kaitlyn Rodriguez, and Ciara Rodriguez rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with 31st, 36th and 39th-place finishes.
The Bulldogs will be in action again next Friday at the USF Invitational in Tampa Bay, Florida.
