|(Seguin) -- The Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office doesn't want you to fall victim to the latest scam artist to visit the area. |
Sheriff Arnold Zwicke and his team of investigators recently took a report in the 2000 block of FM 758 from a concerned citizen. The citizen reported that an individual drove up and represented themselves as a county employee.
They provided the complainant with a business card. The card claimed to be Triple JJJ Asphalt, a Texas based business with free estimates. They offered to pave her parking lot with left over chip seal from a prior Guadalupe County job.
When the citizen questioned the man, and told him that she was calling the sheriff's office to confirm the county was giving away chip seal, the subject quickly left the property towards the direction of State Highway 46. The suspect is described as driving a black pickup truck, possibly a Toyota Tundra. He reportedly presented a green and black business card having an email and two phone numbers.
During its investigation, sheriff’s officials found that the 800 number on the card went to a voicemail titled "Paving Division". The other number, having a 210 area code, rang several times, was picked up and was then immediately disconnected. Again, sheriff's investigators say this information is being disseminated to the public so that it can protect themselves from these criminals.
Zwicke asks the citizens of Guadalupe County to report any suspicious activity, and to be aware that there are scammers willing to take advantage of trusting people. He also asks that if these people show up to you home to contact the sheriff's office immediately. That number is 830-379-1224.
Anyone who has information on this suspect and who wishes to remain anonymous is asked to contact the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 877-403-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be received online at www.gccstips.org or through the "P3" smart phone app.
