(Seguin) -- Get ready to feast over a night of improv. Tickets are still available for this Saturday's Seguin High School's Drama Boosters improvisational theater show. The show featuring unlimited desserts and gourmet coffee will be showcased in the new Performing Art Center's black box.
Booster President Kelly Follis says the "unpredictably hilarious theater" will feature the SHS Improv Troupe plus Theater Teacher and Emcee Sheila Lucas.
"Improvisational theatre can go any which way. It's not just going to be completely random, because our troupe has been practicing a little bit. So they're working together and they have great synergy going and they're going to be so much fun. Our emcee is Sheila Lucas who is just a blast and definitely is familiar with how improvisational theatre flows. It'll be a lot of fun to watch the interaction between Mrs. Lucas and the kids and just get that going. So that's going to be a lot of fun. It will be for sure hilarious," said Follis.
Follis says lobby doors open for dessert at 6:30 p.m. followed by the show at 7 p.m. in the new black box.
"Well the event on Saturday night is going to be so much fun. It is for anyone. It's family friendly, but it's also a great date night. The doors open at the beautiful new Performing Arts Center at Seguin High School at 6:30. People come into the lobby and we have unlimited desserts. We have pie, cake, cookies, brownies and we also have a gourmet coffee bar that Court Street Coffee is setting up with coffee and hot cocoa and all kinds of stuff to top with -- different varieties of coffee, Mexican chocolate cocoa. It's going to be delicious. Then, we migrate into the new black box theatre which will make its debut. We've never used the black box publicly for an event like this. It only holds 80 people. So tickets are limited, very limited by space, but it's going to be such a great atmosphere for this type of theatrical entertainment," said Follis.
Follis says the funds raised will go back into supporting the drama students and their future performances.
"This is our drama booster fundraiser for the year. We really need to do well, because we do a lot to support our drama program, our students and directors. We are always supplying snacks, little gifts, when they do a show. We have three shows a year that they do and we definitely want to take care of them and make them feel loved. We also do scholarships. Last year, we did three to our top drama students going on to college. That's a great honor to be able to give our great students a little boost when they leave us to go out into the world. So we're very happy to be able to do scholarships. We are a 501(c)3 so if people can't come, but they want to support us, we'll definitely always be happy to take donations and you get that tax advantage. So it's a win, win," said Follis.
Tickets are $12 a person and can be purchased in advance at Court Street Coffee. Cost at the door is $15. Due to the seating limitation of the new theater area, tickets are encouraged to be purchased as soon as possible.
