(Seguin) -- You might want to hurry up and get your free tickets today for this year's KWED Listener Appreciation Night at the rodeo. The Thursday night event helps kick off the annual Guadalupe County Fair and PRCA Rodeo.
Over the last several years, Seguin Radio KWED has teamed up with Yaklin Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram and Palm Harbor Homes to provide the free tickets to local families. Keeping with tradition, Yaklin, again this year, will be giving everyone who stops by its booth the chance to win a trio of prizes. That's according to new General Manager Robert Mendez.
"If you come to the booth and you sign up, we'll be giving away a 43 inch Vizio flat screen, a gas grill and then also a 65 quart Yeti Cooler. At the end of the fair, we'll get everything together and then we'll announce the winners the following week and you don't have to be present to win," said Mendez.
Mendez says being a part of the Guadalupe County Fair is very important for the local dealership.
"One of the things that was important to me is I've been selling RAM products for 11 years and when I came here, the rodeo has always been a big part. People trust the rodeo and people in these parts, especially with agriculture things going on, they trust it. RAM has always been a 100 percent sponsor of that. It's just really great to be a part of it and be able to support that and all the great programs that they have with it," said Mendez.
The booth, which will showcase products by both Yaklin and Palm Harbor Homes, will be located near the entrance of the rodeo arena. Each free rodeo ticket gets an individual into the fair gates as well as into a $200 cash drawing to be held during Thursday night's dance featuring music by Brandon Michael & True Country. Individuals must be present to win.
The rodeo pre-show begins at 7 p.m. followed by the PRCA Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. The dance will follow from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Although tickets are free, Mendez says he suspects any remaining tickets will go fast.
"On Thursday night, we have tickets here and they're going real fast. They've been coming in in droves to get tickets. So I'm down to about half my stack where I started out whenever I got handed them a couple of weeks ago," said Mendez.
The free tickets can be picked up at Yaklin, Palm Harbor Homes or at Seguin Radio KWED. A limited number of free tickets remain at each location for Thursday's event. A complete listing of fair activities is avialable at www.gcfair.org.
