(Seguin) -- Emergency crews spent the better part of Monday afternoon working to rescue a young driver, who drove his vehicle off FM 1117 and into the Guadalupe River.

The case is still under investigation, but the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, the Seguin Fire/EMS Department, Texas Game Wardens and the Sand Hills Volunteer Fire Department were all called in response to a vehicle that had driven into the river.

Officials on scene made contact with the driver, who had moved to the rear the vehicle, which was the only part of the car that was not fully submerged in the river. The fire department used a boat to reach the vehicle, they then opened its hatchback, and pulled the driver to safety. The identity of the 19-year old driver has not yet been released.
